PLO recognition is requested in the Chamber of Deputies (view)
Justicialist, Radical, Intransigent and Democratic Deputies requested The Executive, by means of a declaration project, that our country recognizes the existence of the Palestine State and “eases” the opening of an Embassy in this capital city.
The announcement was carried forth during a press meeting carried out at the National Congress, attended by the Director of the Palestinian Office in Buenos Aires, Suhail Akel, and by a representative of Mothers of Plaza de Mayo Organization.
The project is signed, among others, by the Justicialist Deputies German Abdala, Juan Pablo Cafiero, Luis Saadi and Fernando Paz; Radical Deputies Federico Storani and Carlos Raimundi; Intransigent Deputy Oscar Alende and Democratic Christian Eduardo Gonzalez.
Deputy Abdala expressed, when explaining grounds of the project, that the initiative answers to the “history and tradition of our people on the principle of self-determination” and he also spoke about the resolutions voted by the United Nations Organization and Non Aligned Movement.
The “PLO” representative assured that “we are interested in maintaining a dialogue with Israelis” and answering a question he responded the Middle East conflict “is not a controversy between Jews and Palestinians but between Israelis and Palestinians”.
