Ambassador Suhail Hani Daher Akel
Suhail
Hani Daher Akel was born in Haret el Sa´adie of the Old City of Jerusalem
- Al Quds, Capital of Palestine State on 13 August 1946, converted into refugee
in 1948. Married, father of 4 children.
He has studies of political sciences, sociology and ceremonial. Author of
4 books, 6 essays and a hundred of articles published in newspapers and magazines.
He dictated more than two hundred of lectures and university classes. He participated
of the area of international politics of the Movement Fatah with seat in Beirut
since 1975.
He was General Secretary of the Committee of Solidarity with the Palestinian
People in 1983. Director of the Palestinian Information Office in 1988.
He entered in the Political Department (Chancellery in the exile) of the PLO
in Tunisia-1989.
He was appointed representative of the Palestinian Liberation Organization-1989.
By disposition of H.E. President Yasser Arafat he settled the first Palestinian
Office in Buenos Aires in 1990.
He had the high responsibility of establishing the first bilateral relations
of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the Palestinian National Authority
with the Republic Argentine. By presidential decree of H.E. Mister President
Yasser Arafat, he was nominated Ambassador, Gaza-1995.
In January 1996, the Argentinean Government gave him the Document of the establishment
of bilateral relations, settling in that way the first Palestinian Diplomatic
Mission. Accredited in February of 1996, the Ambassador Akel, became the first
Palestinian diplomatic representative in Argentine.
He represents since 1999, the interests of Palestine in front of the Government
of the Oriental Republic of the Uruguay. He started the first contact to establish
the bilateral relations between Palestine and the Republic of Paraguay-2000.
Because of his commitment with the “Peace of the Valiant”, he
participated among others, as Chief of Delegation in the First Palestinian-Jewish
Round Table for the Peace, in Argentine and Latin America-1987 and in the
Round Table for the Peace between Palestine and Israel-2000.
He planted in the different provinces and cities more than a twentieth of
“Olive Tress for the Peace”, and as symbol of coexistence he requested
and inaugurated in Buenos Aires the Palestine Street that crosses to Israel
street, single cross in the world.
He processed the presence of the humanitarian mission of the White Helmets
in Palestine and the Argentinean donation of 10 Community Technological Centers.
He negotiated before the Argentinean Government the donation of the current
building of the Embassy in 1996 and it was inaugurated in November 1999.
He broke his exile of 46 years returning to Palestine and Jerusalem in 1995.
